The name dates back to the late 1700's when Napoleon built a powder magazine on this plot. It subsequently fell into the hands of the Church, as was the case with all the land of this area.
1800's. Under Siccardi's law, the Italian state expropriated the land, and anybody willing to ignore the threat of excommunication could buy it. Many Jewish businessmen recognised the opportunity to buy the land and then resell it either as whole plots or subdivided.
At the beginning of the 1900's the land became the property of the Fenocchio family, who for sixty-eight years produced wine from the grapes. Since 1998, it has been owned by the Migliorini family, wine producers from Monforte d'Alba. (www.rocchedeimanzoni.it).

To obtain the best possible results from our land we have adopted the Biodynamic Agricultural system.
Many species of animals and insects (including: bees, hornets, bats, and several types of insect-eating birds) find this place an ideal habitat, also enhanced by the presence of a natural lake in the vineyard.
We don't use any automated methods to work our vineyards, everything is done by hand.
