Donatella Cinelli Colombini - Brunello Riserva 2003 Ml. 750
At least 24 months
The last Brunello of the 20th century beat the world ratings. More than half of the bottles produced on the Montalcino hill received more than 90 points out of 100 from the prestigious American magazine Wine Spectator. No Italian wine had ever before been such a success. The two Brunello from Casato Prime Donne were given 94 and 90 out of a 100.
In 1999 the Casato Prime Donne winery was launched, it was here that this wine refined in barrel and in bottle for five years. In 1592 Donatella Cinelli Colombini's ancestors would come to Casato to hunt, and for their honeymoons. Today the stone building is surrounded by 19 hectares of vineyard and contains barriques and barrels alternated with paintings regarding the history of Montalcino. To the original name of Casato the words Prime Donne have been added this is because this is the first winery in Italy where only women work. Those who make the wine, who welcome guests, and those who commercialise the wine are all women, with the exception of the enologist Carlo Ferrini who supervises from a distance and checks all that takes place in this all female winery.
