The Bolgheri Rosso Ca'Marcanda is part of the great wine-making experience of Angelo Gaja, author of wines able to revolutionize the concept of territorial marketing with resounding products of Piedmont enology: from the Gaja's desire to invest in the terroir of Bolgheri coast, in Tuscany, was born Ca'Marcanda, a farm with 100 hectares of vineyard purchased from the old owners after a long negotiation (hence the name, which in Piedmontese dialect means bargaining). With the construction of the new impressive wine cellar Gaja wanted to place his project in a context of harmony with nature, using only materials found during the excavations. The construction of the new winery of Ca'Marcanda was entirely directed by the architect Giovanni Bo, a longtime collaborator of Angelo Gaja able to assign a deeply distinctive identity to the new Tuscan project. For the Bolgheri wines of Ca'Marcanda Gaja has chosen to respect the more traditional characters of the area, with typical Bordeaux blends that have long characterized the region: the approach in the vineyard and in the cellar combines high quality with a little more extensive quantity of wine than what Gaja has done in the past in other places.
