Orro
In the company of the Orro family, being a winemaker is not the only job one is called to do when working with the land, this is the thought of Davide Orro, a courageous and stubborn agronomist, who understood the importance from a young age. to defend, enhance and develop the potential of the territory where for more than three thousand years one of the oldest and most important vines in the history of enology has been cultivated: "Vernaccia di Oristano". The Romans baptized it " vernaculum ”, a local wine, precious to the point that the term“ murruai ”, a term derived from the Latin“ mirratur ”, in use by the Romans, is still remembered today in cellars. The vine can give rise to the wine of the same name only if grown within its area of origin, the lower Tirso Valley, a small area in the province of Oristano. One of its peculiarities is given by the rare method of vinification, the must is introduced for aging in small chestnut barrels full for 1/10, the action of indigenous yeasts (flor yeasts) is responsible for the refinement of the wine, in fact, they form a biofilm / veil on the surface of the wine and, feeding on alcohol, release aromatic molecules that originate the complex sensory profile, “murruai”, which characterizes this oenological jewel. Recently, and always with the same vine, the dry white wine “Tzinnigas” was also produced.
