The Fattoria di Magliano is a young wine producing firm, set up in 1996, of some 97 hectares in the heart of the Maremma region of Tuscany. The owner, Agostino Lenci, after a long and successful career in the footwear industry decided to follow his dream of becoming a producer of wines, choosing this part of Tuscany for its low population density and the age old tradition which sees the work of man directed towards a balance of nature and the environment which here, has shades both wild and shy. The first wines were produced in 2003.
VINES
Sangiovese and Vermentino, the vines which are typical to this area represent about 80% of our cultivation, but given the relative newness of the enterprise we have also had the possibility of experimenting other varieties which the agronomists suggested could be particularly suited to the area, such as Syrah and Cabernet Franc.
Merlot and Petit Verdot are also present in our vineyards and these contribute to the fragrance and elegance of our Poggio Bestiale.
The 52 hectares of the present vineyards are distributed over three areas: Colle Sterpeti, where the Fattoria with its cellars and holiday accommodation can be found, Vigna Tizzi and finally the splendid and unique Poggio Bestiale.
