

Everything started in 1970 in the vineyards around the Archbishop's Palace at Capriva, ceded in rent to Mario by the church; vineyards which Mario completely rennovated and which finally became his property in 1989 after many postponements.
Mario, fully aware that the real wealth and strength of the business, are the soil and the plants, transformed old unkempt terrain in vineyards cured in great detail, he worked hard to render his vineyards unique and he took advantage of the potential of the Terroir of Ponca ( typical Friuli terrain composed mainly of clay and limestone ).
Gradually his children, Maria Angela, Carlo and Giorgio joined him in running the business, carrying on his project with sensitivity and respect, with love of tradition and real passion.
In April 2014 the business passed into the hands of the Rotolo family who intend to maintain intact Mario's mission and productive philosophy for the sake of continuity.
THE CELLAR
In 1990, after finally coming into possession of the terrain and cellars of the Archbishop's palace, Mario began work on his new cellar which he personally designed.
A modern cellar of human dimension, designed to be efficient and technologically advanced, in order to obtain the best result from the grapes after the careful work in the vineyards.
The structure is in the centre of the vineyards and it is one of the few cellars in the world to be completely surrounded by its own vineyards.
In the heart of the cellar exists Mario's Room, a place which is unique in Italy where work continues to reproduce and multiply autochthonous yeast using the most advanced technology.
Inside this yeast room, fundamental element of the philosophy of the estate and of the productive process, work continues to multiply the yeast for the different types of wine in order to start the fermentation process.

Siamo nel 1965 è Mari Schiopetto produce il primo Tocai in purezza. A Capriva tutto ebbe inizio, prendendo in contratto d'affitto le vigne attorno al Palazzo Arcivescovile dalla curia, che diventarono di sua proprieta nel 1989. L'azienda si estende per circa 30 ettari, suddivisi in 22 ettari nel Collio che ciorcondano l'azienda, altri 8 nella zona di Oleis Nel 1990 iniziano i lavori per la nuova cantina. Nel cuore della cantina si trova la Stanza di Mario, una sala unica in Italia in cui si lavora alla riproduzione e moltiplicazione dei lieviti autoctoni per la fermentazione attraverso le tecnologie più avanzate.
