The Azienda Agricola Patrizia Cencioni is a family owned and run winery that is located on the southeast slope of the Montalcino hillside. The property is almost 50 HA of which 8ha are vined growing DOCG Brunello, 1.5 Ha growing Doc St. Antimo and 7 Ha of Olive groves. The vines were planted in 1989, the year Solaria was founded; though its origins go back to the family estate created in the 1950's by Grandpa Giuseppe Cencioni, one of the founders of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino.
With Solaria, the estate has vastly improved thanks to the considerable family experience and the entrepreneurial ability of the owner Patrizia Cencioni who adds a feminine touch!
A meticulous manual selection of the grapes and an aging process done in large wooden casks of 2500 and 4000 in Slavonian Oak and in smaller casks, shown the aspiration of Solaria to pursue quality Montalcino production.

VINEYARDS

The vineyards on the Solaria estate were planted in 1989 and extend for 50 hectares over the hilly land on a natural plateau on southeast of the slopes of the Montalcino hill. They are 300 meters above sea level and are sheltered from the cold winds from the east by Mount Amiata and from the north by the rise of Montalcino. This unique microclimate allows the Sangiovese Grosso grapes, from which Brunello di Montalcino comes, a divine maturation helped by loving care and dedication.
Thanks to the altitude and exposure, the grapes attain perfect ripeness easily, and the wines always reach a good degree of alcohol; the soil, composed of coarse tuff and clay, provides depth to the wine, a feature that distinguishes the style of Solaria.
Of the 50 hectares of the estate, 8 are vineyards that produce Brunello, 1.5 hectares produce Sant'Antimo Doc and there are 7 hectares of olive groves. These numbers give us strength. After a selection of the freshest and best grapes the production is approximately 60000 kg of Sangiovese, 3000 kg Cabernet. With the first we produce Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino, and together with the second we create Solarianne our Super Tuscan wine, a "sunny " wine of course.
The harvest, which generally takes place at the beginning of October, is done strictly manually to ensure the highest integrity of the grapes.
After pressing and fermenting the Sangiovese grapes; the wine is put into Slavonian oak casks of 2500 and 4000 and smaller casks of French oak, here they are kept for 30 months and will become Brunello, while in the case of the Red (Rosso) there is a refining of 8 months: part in barrels of French oak from 1000l and part in Slavonian oak casks of 2000l.
