Girlan
The Girlan Winery (448 meters above sea level) was founded in 1923 by 23 winemakers in the town of Girlan / Cornaiano in a historic 16th century farm and is still the production and administrative headquarters. At the time, those 23 winemakers produced just 2,700 hectoliters of wine.
The Girlan Winery currently has 200 winegrowers, located in a 220-hectare vineyard area, in the best production areas of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina.
Mentioned for the first time back in 1085, Girlan / Cornaiano is a now famous wine village. The vineyards extend at an altitude between 250 and 550 m a.s.l., on different soils in their composition which constitute an ideal environment for the cultivation of numerous native and international varieties. Alongside the land, a very important factor is the human one: that of the winemaker and oenologist, Gerhard Kofler, who maintains a close relationship with our contributing members. It is from this fruitful exchange of experiences that the foundations for our quality ambitions are born.
