The winery originates in the Barbaresco area. Since the second half of the 1800s, four generations of the family have worked in the cellar. Some awards obtained by the great-grandfather date back to the early 1900s.
In the story of Don Michele Del Pero, Archpriest of Barbaresco from 1889 to 1935, two gold medals are told: one obtained at the Monaco Exhibition and the other at the Last Exhibition in Chicago.
In February 1952 the family decided to buy and rebuild the prestigious I Paglieri farmhouse (Pajè) in Barbaresco. In 1978 the company brand was created, the current logo of the winery.
In 1982 the inspiration of the new father gave rise to the Opera Prima. In 1989 the company bought the historic La Pira farmhouse in the Rocche di Castiglione Falletto: Alfredo's dream was in fact to own one of the most important "crus" in the Barolo area. In 2001, after completing his studies at the Alba Wine School, Luca joined the company.
Roagna has maintained faith over the decades to its business philosophy, which has always been handed down from father to son. The goal is to seek the highest quality of the product, safeguarding the typicality and authenticity of the vine in line with the Roagna personality and lifestyle.
The style is traditional and innovative, respecting the history. The techniques are refined from year to year, while retaining a traditional and typical character. In a Roagna wine the autochthonous characteristics (grape variety and terroir) are in the foreground with great structure and olfactory richness. Respect for Nature is fundamental. In the vineyards no chemical or organic fertilizers are used.
