Caravaglio

It was born on the initiative of Antonino Caravaglio in 1992 in Malfa in Contrada Gramignazzi.
Today the vineyard area is about 12 hectares. The vineyards cultivated with the method of agriculture organic are aged between 5 and 10 years and consist mainly of two Aeolian indigenous varieties: Malvasia delle Lipari and Corinto Nero.
The main vocation is the production of Malvasia delle Lipari. The grapes harvested ad
advanced ripening, it is spread on reed mats, locally called “cannizze”, on which it remains exposed to the sun for at least two weeks, and every evening collected in buildings closed on three sides, called "pinnate". At fermentation in 20 hl stainless steel tanks. maturation follows half in steel and the remaining half in wooden barrels for about 6 months. The following assembly and aging in the bottle for another six months precede the marketing.
Other indigenous varieties are grown in small part: Nero d'Avola, Nerello Cappuccio, Inzolia and Catarratto.
In addition to viticulture, the company is dedicated to the cultivation, harvesting and packaging of capers.
