The Gianni Brunelli Farm - Le Chiuse di Sotto was founded in 1987 when Gianni fulfilled the dream of his life: to return to Montalcino and buy the company where his father Dino worked.
The 15-hectare farm is now made up of 2 farm units located in two distinct areas of the municipality of Montalcino: Podere Le Chiuse di Sotto, located on the north side of Montalcino, represents the original core of the company. The cultivated area is divided into 2 ha of vineyards with an average age of 22 years and 3 ha of olive groves. The cooler microclimate and the full maturity of the vines give the wine produced here finesse, elegance and aromatic complexity.
The Poderenovone business center is located on the south-east side at an altitude of 320 a.s.l. And it is characterized by a warmer but ventilated microclimate by the presence of the nearby Monte Amiata. The 4.5 ha of vineyards were planted in the late 1990s and the grapes produced reach excellent maturity and richness in polyphenols and aromas. Another 1.5 ha are planted with olive groves and a beautiful wood surrounds the entire farm in a crescent shape.
The grape variety mainly cultivated is Sangiovese Grosso and a small presence of Merlot, half a hectare, planted in Poderenovone in the part facing north.
The vinification involves the traditional fermentation and the aging of the wine takes place in barrels with a capacity of 20/30 hectoliters. Today the company is managed entirely by Laura Brunelli, wife of the late Gianni, a woman of passion, tenacity and great values!
