Renzo Marinai

The Renzo Marinai farm is located in one of the most fascinating scenarios of Chianti, located on a hill overlooking the surrounding valleys and lands. The Cecione farm takes its name from the ancient church of San Martino in Cecione near the Panzano Castle dating back to the year 1600. Renzo Marinai has been at the helm of the company since 1996, flanked by two collaborators, the oenologist Giovanni Cappelli and the agronomist Fabrizio Balò, with whom he undertook a total restyling of the place, introducing new systems of organic cultivation. The company covers about 30 hectares of land, 6 cultivated with vineyards, 12.50 with olive groves, while the remainder consists of oak and holm oak woods. Located at a height of 400m above sea level, cultivated with low plant intensity (2.80x0.80) and is all marly. The planting of the new vineyards was done while maintaining the level lines of the land. Among the red grapes, Sangiovese occupies the first place, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo and by an indigenous vineyard consisting of Mammolo, Cilegiolo, Prugnolo, Colorino and Sangiovese with round leaves. The white grapes, on the other hand, are Trebbiano, Malvasia and Chardonnay. Durum wheat is made up of the Cappelli variety which extends for 2 hectares, while the soft wheat is Verna which develops for 1 and a half hectares. The cellar is composed of stainless steel tanks for the first fermentation and for the second (manolactic) there are also oak barrels of 20 hl up to 5hl barrels, there is also a part dedicated to small barrels (barrique) for the aging of the reserves all is accompanied by classical music in the background with pieces by Mozart.
