Antinori Le Mortelle
The Le Mortelle farm was born in the heart of the lower Maremma in 1999, near Castiglione della Pescaia. It covers 270 hectares, divided into 170 planted with vineyards where wines are produced with a strong and elegant character strongly linked to this territory, 15 hectares of orchards (peaches, plums, apricots, pears and blueberries) with organic cultivation and two artificial lakes, the largest of which has a body of water of about 6 hectares. All around, low hills covered with olive groves and woods. Le Mortelle farm respects the best agricultural tradition, combining it with an eco-sustainable approach. The grape varieties grown by the Le Mortelle farm are mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese, more recently have been Vermentino, Ansonica and Viognier plants. The vines grow on a sandy and loamy soil, mainly siliceous-clayey and in some areas rich in skeleton. The climate is typical of the Tyrrhenian coast: warm and dry with sea breezes that mitigate the cold winter, cooling the summer days but reducing rainfall.
