Bruno Rocca

Thanks to the intuition and courage of Francesco Rocca (1907 - 1978), grandson of the first Francesco, in 1958 the company moved from the center of Barbaresco to the Rabajà area, to the southern entrance of the town. The plots of Rabajà have always been known for the production of grapes of extraordinary quality, sold at a much higher price than the other Nebbiolo da Barbaresco. Proof of this is the fact that the winery to which, after the war, we gave the grapes, already since 1967 bottled labels with the indication: "Vineyards in Rabajà Sud-Ovest". The awareness of having a unique wine heritage of its kind and the desire to enhance the centuries-old agricultural background of the Rocca, pushes the son of Francesco, Bruno, born in 1951, to change course and to specialize in viticulture. 1978 marks the first harvest whose fruits will be bottled, for the first time, under the family name. These are years of ferment and experimentation, of passions and challenges to be overcome. Years in which the wines of the Langhe and Barbaresco in particular experience an incredible international exposure, looking for a way to raise their quality and typicality. With this in mind of renewal and rediscovery of tradition, Bruno Rocca modernizes and renews the family business. The goal is to raise the quality of the wines produced and enhance the extraordinary "family" cru, Rabajà. This is achieved through a radical rethinking of vineyard management and work in the cellar, no longer intended to maximize quantities, but designed so that everything contributes to the production of wines with a distinctive character, unique because they are the singular expression of a territory with non-reproducible characteristics. The 90s reap the fruit and satisfaction of the hard work done. Our company is consolidated as an internationally recognized wine company. Thanks to the acquisition of new vineyards, in addition to Barbaresco, the production of the great wines of Piedmont begins: Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d’Alba and d’Asti, Dolcetto and Chardonnay. Today, alongside Bruno Rocca, his sons Luisa and Francesco work in the company. They have the task of renewing the fidelity of our history to the territory of origin, respect for the land, the enhancement of its vines and the production of a wine that is the result of the incredible balance between the rhythm of nature and the work of man.
