Podere Salicutti - Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva "Piaggione" 2013 Ml. 750
Winery Podere Salicutti
Characteristic
The Podere Salicutti estate is situated in the South-East of the Montalcino township territory, above the route SP 55 to Castelnuovo dell'Abate / Abbey of Sant'Antimo, at approximately 4 km before the village. It comprises 11 hectares of land including vineyards (about 4 hectares) olive grove (about 1 hectare) and woods (3.30 hectares).
At the heart of the estate in the old restored farm-houses, apart from the owner's home, there are two apartments for holiday rentals as well as the aging cellar.
In 1999 a new construction was built that houses the winery, the storage area and the office.
Another aging cellar is planned for the future.
The owner Francesco Leanza manages the estate and directs work both of the winery and of administration and sales.
The winery (80 sq. m.) partly below ground level has been newly built but is well integrated in the previous old building. Its walls and ceiling are insulated and on the outside it has been faced with traditional materials (local stones and old salvage bricks).
It is equipped with stainless steel vats of varying capacities (from 80 to 15 hectolitres adding up to a total of 320 hectolitres) all provided with automatic temperature control systems (cold-hot) with electronic switches that can power every single vat autonomously.
The space is also endowed with air conditioning. For the pressing of the marc we chose the traditional system of hydraulic press and wooden cage.
State of the art de-stemmer, crusher and pump.
The aging cellar is situated in the space (80 sq. m) that used to be the stables, on the ground floor of the old farm built with wide stone walls.
The architectonic and structural features have been maintained and enhanced with careful renovation. The room is air-conditioned.
The aging of the wines takes place in French and Slavonian oak barrels of capacities (from 10 to 40 hectolitres) the longer the aging, the larger the capacity of the barrels.
