The Contucci farm was founded in 1646 and extends over 170 hectares divided into: 21 planted with vineyards and of these 15 are enrolled in the Register of the Noble, while the others are used for the production of Rosso di Montepulciano, Bianco della Contessa, Il Sansovino and Vin Santo. The vineyards are located in one of the best production areas, at an altitude that varies between 280 and 450 meters. The soils are mainly of Pliocene origin, with the presence of clay and sand. The vines, consisting solely of native vines (Prugnolo Gentile, Canaiolo nero, Mammolo, Colorino, Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasìa del Chianti and Grechetto). Agronomic interventions are always based on the utmost respect for the environment; the "guided struggle" is practiced; fertilization, short pruning and thinning of the bunches are carried out according to the needs of the year. The harvest is however done by hand, in crates, and with several steps by selecting the bunches; the gradual replacement of the older vineyards has begun. A historic company that of the Contucci family, a witness to the great Polizian wine tradition. The family palace, the work of Sangallo, located right in front of the Cathedral speaks volumes about the ancient origin of the family and is an archive of precious eighteenth-century documents that attest to the production of Vino Nobile. The range of wines, which declines the famous red in all its expressions, is a concentrate of typicality, while having the advantage of not being foolishly anchored to the naked and raw tradition, but interpreting it with great class.
