Characteristic
This wine, produced in the French Region of Bordeuax, is part of the Bordeuax Wine Official Classification of 1855. This Classification has a significant historical importance, was indeed wanted by the Emperor Napoleon III, in the occasion of the Exposition Universelle de Paris with the aim of conferring even more recognisability and relevance to the best wines of this Region. In other words, the intention was to create an easily recognizable brand beyond the territories of France. This wine has been classified as premier cru, which is the highest of the five classification orders (from 1st to 5th cru).
Chateau Mointon Rothschild is produced with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, predominantly, and with Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. The harvest is completely made by hand, and the fermentation at temperature controlled in wooden barrels. Then, the wine passes into new oak barrels, where it remains up to 22 months.
The labels are very particular. They are drawn by a contemporary artist and different for each vintage.
