We walked along that old vineyard every day. No one had tended to it for a long time, and its destiny seemed clear - inevitable. Therefore, the day we were offered to work on that land, we looked at each other, uncertain of the meaning of that weird joke. It took us two years to restore it – two years with no harvest, a profusion of unrecoverable vines, and countless broken poles and wires. In those two years we often asked ourselves why we had embarked on such a venture. The answer came with the 2015 vintage, with those roots sunk in the ground like the claws of a bird of prey. An elegant, vertical and clean Sangiovese, with soft and silky tannins. It was so refined that our instinct told us to take a step back and entrust it with the role of solo player. That day, if anyone had told us that we would get such a Sangiovese, we probably would have thought that it was a joke. Produced by a vineyard that is more than sixty years old, this Sangiovese describes with simplicity and accuracy the main features of the varietal and its terroir. A vertical, clean and elegant wine: Tuscany and Burgundy have never been so close
