Cieck

The Canavese, a wine-growing area at the foot of the Alps, is the land of origin of the Erbaluce di Caluso and Canavese DOC wines, is located north of the city of Turin and is one of the oldest wine-growing areas in Piedmont. The cultivation of the vine was already practiced there in Roman times. The adaptation of vine cultivation to climatic conditions and to native vines has resulted in the adoption of specific forms of farming, first of all the Pergola Canavesana. The soils, which are mainly hilly, have morainic origins, or derive from the mass of debris due to the advancement of prehistoric glaciers. It is therefore very ancient soils and of a sandy-pebbly nature. The climate is characterized by harsh winters and hot summers, with significant changes in temperature between night and day. The vineyards extend for about 13 hectares and are mostly cultivated with the native vines Erbaluce and Nebbiolo.
