The winery has been making its own grapes since 1880, the year in which the foundations of the current company were laid, which has been handed down for seven generations. Today it processes grapes of 50 hectares, of which 28 are owned while the rest are from small winemakers with vineyards in particularly suitable microzones. Our vineyards are all in the municipalities of Montagna and Egna, on the side of the Cilson mountain, and are located at altitudes between 240 and 850 meters above sea level; the soils are of various formations, from porphyry sand, clay to soils with a high limestone content. Between 1982 and 1986 a radical change began in the vineyards: they began to create new vineyards with densities ranging from 6,000 to 12,500 vines per hectare and selecting plants with very low yields. Already the first harvests of these vineyards encouraged us to continue on this path because the qualitative and longevity results of the wines were and are far superior to expectations.
